Kate & Jay's Ombré Ruffle Wedding Cake

Because we are bespoke cake stylists, most of our work are original designs.
However, it is a common practice of most aspiring cake decorators
and hobbyists to 'take inspiration' (aka copy ideas)
from much more experienced and innovative masters of the craft.
We are also only learning, but our point of difference is that when we do borrow an idea,
we give credit where it's due

For this next number, the bride - Kate was really enamored by the simplicity
of this Bobbette & Belle wedding cake design:

Kate is our Janey's old friend all the way from High School.
We are honoured to help create their dream day!

Here is our humble take on the brooch & ruffles ensemble:

The bottom tier was red vlevet cake in white chocolate ganache frosting.
The middle tier was lemon-vanilla pound cake with white choc ganache.
Th top tier was white choc mud cake with creamy milk choc ganache.

Such yummy colours!!!

We must have stared at it for hours after assembling it, it was mesmerizing!

The night of the wedding, Kate texted Jane...
she said it was 'delish'! Now, to make a pretty cake - that's one thing.
To make a delicious cake - that's yet another!!!
 Happy.

Thank you for joining us in this sugary-sweet journey!

Kloé-cake's Cake Smash Photoshoot

We are soooo super happy that our princess was born
in the spring time - Sakura-season!
Here are photos by our talented friend from Available Light Ltd
of our 1 year old photo-shoot at Cornwall Park:

The egg-free, dairy-free vanilla pound cake... was covered in butter cream (LOL)!

The sakura on the cake is made of rice wafer:

Our princess and her smash cake:

 Oooops!

Kloé Abigail's First Birthday Party Part 3 - The Cake

The one cake Joy has looked forward to making since the princess was born:

Original design and concept by Mommy Joy.
The sugar flowers were hand-crafted with much love by Aunty Jane.

Kloé Abigail's First Birthday Princess Party Part 2 - The Party

And so the fun begins... with bubbles!

 ... and little persons:
... and big persons:

Our little princess, enjoying her own party:

... the grown ups were playing a very rowdy game,
so Kloé and Mommy enjoyed watching them from behind the glass window:

... Playing 'Pabitin' - a traditional Filipino grab-&-keep party game:

... Facepaint & Fairy floss - how much fun can it get???

A little break from the fun and games, just before cutting the cake:

Kloé Abigail's First Birthday Princess Party Part 1 - The Prep

Hello friends!
Here is one reason we have been rather slow on the blogging and cake styling in general...
(other than the fact that Joy has now gone back to full-time paid employment
doing something she equally enjoys and is equally good at):
Our dear Kloé-cake's first birthday party!

Why have such an OTT party for a 1-year old little person?
She won't even remember any of it... Why all the fuss?
Just because. Sometimes, there need not be a logical reason. :)

Here is a little peek at the extensive preparations that went before the pary...

Craft boxes packed as favours:

Handmade tulle wands and paper crowns:

Disclaimer - we strive to raise Kloé in a calm environment,
hence if you're expecting brightly coloured decorations, then you'll be disappointed.
The colour in Kloé's life comes mostly from nature itself (the sky, grass, flowers, etc.)
and the people that surround her -
our family and friends that have come from all sorts of places and cultures :

Kloé's  great uncle did these balloon-twisting, and they were a hit!

Sweets table: meringue, mini-cupcakes, yoghurt raisins, ganache tarts, lollies, etc.

We are grateful for friends and family who have gifted us with their
precious time to help out with the self-catering
(if this is you, know that you can call on us any time to return the favour):

Kodie's Skate Park Cake

This next number was a collaboration,
so we cannot take full credit for the concept.
Kodie's mum had the idea of using marshmallows to fill the foam pit.
We had to research quite a bit for this project
as we know very little about indoor skate boarding.

We were so happy to make this cake for Kodie after hearing his story.
He is a lovely young man, and he deserved a very happy birthday!

Working on this cake, we learned skating jargon such as:
half-barrel, flip, etc. We only wish we had more graffiti skills...

The cake itself is chocolate mud through and through.

Thank you, Kodie, for joining us in this sugary-sweet journey!

Ezrah's "Happy Feet" Birthday Cake

Jane's fiance's workmate celebrated their son's birthday with a
Happy Feet - inspired birthday party.

Here is our best attempt:

And the cake came with a dozen boxed matching cupcakes
with hand-crafted toppers on piped swirly buttercream icing:

And for a last look:
