Turquoise ruffle buttercream cake

We have a few ruffle buttercream cakes to make but we've not done one before, so we had to practice first. Here's our first try...

Turquoise ruffle buttercream cake:




This was inspired by a few cake blogs (it's a very popular cake icing technique for a number of reasons. It's simple. It's NOM. It's frugalicious!). However, being me (Janey, who likes order, balance, patterns, the list goes on), I wasn't that ecstatic about how the top part of these cakes are usually iced. So here's our take on icing the top of the cake:


Not bad for a first try, I hope. :)

can i ask you which colour icing you used here? was it Wilton's?

Gosh, this was such a long time ago. We must have used Wilton's Teal colouring. Happy caking!
