The Cake - our "pièce de ré·sis·tance" (so far).

This is the meanest, wickedest, heaviest, grandest cake we've ever made so far!

Both tiers are fruit cakes (so yes, it's very heavy). We've never done fruit cakes prior to this (and, we weren't very fond of fruit cakes either). But we're glad that we agreed to take on this challenge... it totally changed us! We now love fruit cakes! {We love it so much we are now about to bake some for Christmas!} And, apparently, everyone at the wedding LOVED it, too!
So, not too bad for a first try, aye?! :p

It's also our very first try at making Singaporean orchids.

The panels and cones are white chocolate.
Add all that chocolate and 5 layers of fruit cake altogether and you get a 9kg wedding cake!

The wedding reception was held at The Auckland Museum.
Here's a photo of the cake while everything was being set up:

And, our fully set-up cake table, complete with its very own spotlight:

Word from the mother of the groom: "Everyone loved the cake! It looked marvelous, it tasted so amazing! Everyone could not believe the flowers weren't real flowers. There were so many guests taking photos of it. I couldn't fault you." Us, very happy! :D

Thank you for joining us in this sugary-sweet journey!
